White Rose Wedding Cake & Cupcakes for a Lake Tahoe Wedding!

Hi, welcome back to “The Bakes of Grace Blog”! This past weekend I got the opportunity to design and make a beautiful wedding cake for a staged wedding photoshoot at the “North Lake Tahoe Event Center”. I found out about this photoshoot in the “Reno, Truckee, Tahoe Wedding Vendor Network” Facebook group through Summer Barker, the owner of “WildFlower Bride” and “Wildflower Branding“. During the photoshoot I was able to connect with other business owners and experience what it’s like setting up for a wedding venue. It was truly a beautiful experience.

The Cake.
Having the opportunity to design a cake for this shoot was absolutely perfect. I had been wanting to do a 2 tiered wedding cake for quite some time but I didn’t want the cake to go to waste and I also wanted a proper setup.
For the flavors I went with vanilla cake and vanilla frosting for the top tier and chocolate cake and strawberry frosting for the bottom tier.

I love to use cakes as a blank canvas and work as I go. I decided to go with white roses in hopes that the cake would look simple but elegant. I started decorating this cake by applying the dark green stems with leaves and then I used a curved floral piping tip to pipe the roses onto the stems. I had some piped roses that I had been working on for the dozen cupcakes I was making for the shoot and when I was finished with the side piping I added those roses on top of the cake. I also placed some white sprinkles with just a touch of white glitter as you can see in the photos below.

White Rose Cupcakes

The rose cupcakes were a hit because not only were they beautiful but they were very delicious. The flavors consisted of vanilla cake with cookie butter frosting and Lotus Biscoff cookie crumbs. For 6 of the cupcakes I created the large roses on a floral nail and for the other 6 I used a rose Russian piping tip. I also added leaves to the roses. I really enjoyed creating these cupcakes and I hope you think they’re stunning!

The Setup & Views

Everyone did such a great job at creating this beautiful wedding venue, even with the weather being unpredictable. At some points the sky sprinkled rain and hail and occasionally the sun would appear.
